A few months ago, we helped to sponsor and assist Jenny Richardson to visit the Ranch of Rupert Isaacson in Texas to carry out volunteer work with him

Rupert Isaacson has through his son Rowan, developed a therapy where they bring special needs children and ‘neuro-typical’ (ie ‘normal’) children together, using the horse as a social connection.

He advises that each child is catered for according to their own needs. “Our horses are highly adaptable. We believe strongly that special needs kids, and kids on the autism spectrum, can go way beyond mere equine therapy. We believe they can truly ride, and should have the opportunity to do so”.

Jenny Richardson is now running the horse therapy side of things with some help from another volunteer and once she has finished in Texas she will be returning to the UK to set-up and run some camps for autistic children throughout the UK as well as a more permanent site in Cornwall.
